The Department of Political Science was started in the year 1969 with  the moderate strength of 161 students. Late Smt.B.PREMALATHA was the head of the department and was succeeded by Sri.S.Veerappa and Sri.D.Mallikarjuna, Associate Professor, who retired on 2021.

Presently, the department headed by Sri.Sundara Murthy T with support of a Faculty Miss.NANDINI.V.E. In spite of imparting the best academic Knowledge, the department also deeply involves encouraging the students to take part in various  co-curricular activities like seminarS, group discussions, project works, quiz competition, essay writing competitions and assignments in order to explore their skills and talents of the learners. 

The department also conducts study visits for experiential learning and the department is bestowed with an individual library that consists of concerned subjects books. The department also organizes special days like Constitution Day, National Voters Day, National Human Rights Day, National Democracy Day and Rarsthiya Sadhbhavan Divas and important National festivals and events for the students.
