The Department of History was started in the year 1969. The founder staff member of the department was Smt.Sharadamma. Later on, Sri. H.M.Jamabana Goud succeeded as the Head of Department and served till his retirement in this College. In due course of time, Prof. K.Seeta Rama Rao and Dr.K.S.Rama Naik also joined and served the department.

Presently, the department is headed by Sri.Ramalinga T and is managed with the all time support from another faculty member Sri.Shamaraja Nayak T. The Department of History was established with an objective to project and showcase the history, culture and heritage of this Hyderabad-Karnataka region with special reference to the Bellary district. The district’s historical heritage, tradition and number of pre-historic sites provide a vision to the department. The department since its inception has been engaged in motivating the students to learn and contribute to the historical knowledge. Apart from the curricular activities, the department conducts historical tours at regular intervals to have on-hand information about the historical sites and centers. In addition to the above activities the department also organizes frequent visits to local museum, Paleolithic Sites of Sanganakal Village near Ballari and other Historical places. The department also conducts class room seminars and presentation by the students in order to update the students with relevant historical knowledge and also to explore the hidden talents of the students.
