Smt. A.S.M. College for Women, Ballari, remembers the father of Indian Chemistry, Prafulla Chandra Ray, a distinguished Indian scientist and educator, recognized as one of the earliest modern chemical researchers in India.

 Report on the Event:-

The Department of Chemistry celebrated "Chemistry Day" on account of the birth anniversary of Prof. Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray, the father of Indian Chemistry, on 02.08.2025 in the Library Seminar Hall. The College Chairperson, Smt. Kathyayini M. Maridevaiah, presided over the event. Degree College Principal Dr. Dupam Satheesh addressed the gathering. Dr. B. Govindraju, Principal of PU College, spoke on the occasion. HoD of Chemistry, Dr. Bindu P. J.; Mr. Basavraj; Ms. Rohinaz; and Director of Physical Education, Mr. Ashok, were present on the occasion. The program was invoked by Ms. Deepthi and Ms. Harshita. Ms. Lakshmi Priya welcomed the guests and gathering. Ms. Bhavana spoke about the significance of "Chemistry Day." Ms. Moqshida Naaz compered the event. Ms. Bilvashree proposed a vote of thanks. An elocution competition was conducted for final-year Chemistry students; a total of 10 students participated in the competition, and prizes were distributed to the winners. 1st prize goes to Ms. Deepthi, and 2nd prize goes to Ms. Harshita and Ms. Lakshmi Yadav. Nearly 70-75 students of B.Sc.-2nd and 3rd-year students witnessed the event.
