Report on Donors Day:-
V.V.Sangha’s Smt.A.S.M.College for Women observed “Donors Day” to commemorate the death anniversary of the first woman legislator, philanthropist and donor Smt.Allum Sumangalamma on 14.09.2024 in the college auditorium. Chairperson of the College Governing Council Smt.KATHYAYINI MARIDEVAIAH presided over the event. Honourable President of V.V.Sangha and also the son of the donor Smt.Allum Sumangalamma, Secretary of V.V.Sangha Dr.Arvind Patel, Guest and M.C.Member Sri.Allum Pramod, Former Secretary of V.V.Sangha and Resource person Sri.Choranur T Kotrappa, Principal Smt.H.Ratna and dignitaries inaugurated the Donors Day by lightening the lamp. After inaugurating the event President Sri.Allum Gurubasavaraj recalled his memories of his beloved mother and expressed his joy to be a crucial part of the day. Resource Person and Chief Guest Shri.Choranur Kotrappa in his special talk described the significance of charity and the charity of education will be the prime among all the charities. He said that she became the pivotal cause for the women’s education and empowerment in the educationally backward Hyderabad-Karnataka region of that time. He said that Smt.Allum Sumangalamma was the beloved wife of Shree Allum Karibasappa a loving mother of ten children and a great philanthropist. She was elected as the first legislator of Ballari and marked a remarkable development of Ballari. As a legislator she had drawn the special attention of the then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He concluded that the achievements of Smt.Allum Sumangalamma has been written in the golden words in the history of Ballari. He urged the students to consider Smt.Allum Sumangalamma as a role model and to follow her foot steps to achieve and contribute something great in life. Honouorable Secretary of V.V.Sangha Dr.Arvind Patel spoke that Smt.Allum Sumangalamma stand as the definition for women empowerment and development of Ballari. The name of Smt.Allum Sumangalamma has remained in the minds and hearts of Ballarians. He lauded the achievements of Smt. Allum Sumangalamma. He advised the students to read the life and achievements of Smt.Allum Sumangalamma. The Chairperson of the College Governing Council Smt.KATHYAYINI MARIDEVAIAH in her presidential remarks expressed her joy that she was very fortunate to be the student of this college. She said that Smt.Allum Sumangalmma Memorial College has provided education to the thousands of students since 1969. She advised the students to work hard like Smt.Allum Sumangalamma and contribute their best to the society and nation. Degree College Principal Smt.H.Ratna welcomed the guests, HoD of Kannada Dr.Suvarnamma carried out the event Ms.Vibha Kulkarni, Ms.Channa Basamma and Ms.Chandrala invocated the event. Faculty Shri.Gangadhar introduced the resource person Coordinator of IQAC Dr.P.J.BINDU proposed the vote of thanks. Staff members and students witnessed the event. Principal of Shri. Kotturswamy College of Education Dr.Satish Hiremat and IQAC Co-coordinator Dr.Syeda shared the dais.
