About BCA Department:
Smt. Allum Sumangalamma Memorial College for Women, started in the year 1969, and the Department of Computer Application was started in the year 2009 with the initial strength of 12 students, has gone to 58 students in the year 2015-16. In the beginning the department was headed by Mr. S.R. Gadgin, HOD of Physics, Computer Science and Computer Application. From the academic year 2013 Smt. Shanthi.B.Tabitha, HOD of Physics, Computer Science is also heading the BCA Department till date and carrying out the work at its best with the support and encouragement from six guest faculty viz.,Ms.V.Sharvani as Coordinator of the Department, and Ms.Savitha, Ms.Santhoshikumari, Mrs.H.Porrnima, Ms.Lavanya, Mr. Maralu Siddaiah, Mr.Bheemesh and Mr.RajaGuru.M S. Thus, the programme is privileged to have highly qualified and dedicated faculty.
Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) is an Undergraduate Degree course in computer applications. With the rapid growth of IT industry in India, the demand for Computer profession is increasing day by day. This increasing growth of IT industry has created a lot of opportunities for the Computer graduates.
Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) is one of the popular courses for the students who dream of building their career in the IT (Information Technology) field. The duration of the course is 3 years divided in 6 semesters. It comprises of the subjects like Database, Networking, Data structure, Core Programming Languages like ‘C’ and ‘Java’. This course provides a lot of opportunities to the students over and across the world who are interested in Computer field and want to work in the IT sector.
The department is facilitated with a well equipped laboratory with 34 sophisticated systems and paraphernalia. The department is bestowed with a separate book bank that includes more than 500 books concerned to various programs and applications.
