Department of Kannada

About the Department

The Department of Kannada plays an important role in the functioning of the college. Kannada is the mother language of Karnataka state. The department was started in the year 1969 with the initial strength of 69 students and today it records the total strength of 941 students. Since its beginning the department was managed by many experts and experienced teachers namely Smt.Suheela Patil, Dr.Vishwanath Reddy, Dr.G.K.Vishweshvarappa. Presently, the department is headed by Dr.Suvarnamma.D., since past two years from April 18, 2022.  The Head of the Department is assisted by two faculty members Dr.Mangala.B.N., and Mr.Mahesha.A., who extend there all time support for the smooth and systematic functioning of the department. 

The Department is gifted with a “Cultural Association” and  “Kannada Sangha” which makes the students involve in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities like essay writing, elocution, quiz competitions, singing competitions, basha sangama in association with English and Hindi departments and classroom student seminars.
