Events

A Voting Awareness Programme was conducted by the department at Shreedharagadda village near Bellary. The staff along with the students of B.A. first year described the significance of voting and stressed that voting is their civic right.

 

The Department had conducted a survey on “Role of Women in Decentralization of Power” at Haraginadoni Village near Bellary. In the survey, the faculty and the final year B.A. students discussed with the Gramapanchayat President members and the village Women and obtained the relevant information about the topic.

 

The Political Awareness Camp was held by the department and second year B.A. students at Meenahalli village near Bellary.

 

The Department faculty accompanied by the students visited “Streeseva Nikethana” – (A local Women Redressal organization) and discussed about their problems and grievances.

 

The Staff and the Students of B.Com., and B.Sc., studying Indian Constitution visited Bellary Central Jail and interacted with the prison officials and inmates and noted their problems and other expressions.

 

          The Staff and the Students of the department had visited to district administration in order to make the students aware of the methods and procedures of district administration. The HQA briefly outline the administrative aspects and its executions.

About Department

The Department of Political Science was started in the year 1969 with the moderate strength. Late. Smt.B.Premalatha was the Head of Department and was succeeded by Sri.S.Veerappan, Sri.D.Mallikarjuna. Presently Sri.D.Mallikarjuna, Associate Professor is the HoD and carrying out the work with the support of a Guest Faculty Miss.Srivani.H.M. In spite of imparting the best academic knowledge, the department also deeply involves in encouraging the students to take an active part in various co-curricular activities like seminars, group discussions, mock elections, project works and assignments in order to explore their skills and talents.

 

The Department also conducts study visits to Central Jail, District Administration and some Grampanchayats. The department is bestowed with an individual library that consists of concerned subject books. In addition to the separate library, the students also avail the benefit of books from the Central Library which has more than 2000 books concerned to our programme. The faculty also conducts class wise seminars, quiz, elocution,  essay writing competitions, debate on current affairs, burning issues, paper presentation and other activities in as a part of the regular curriculum.
