Introduction
Ballari is the location of a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the eastern region of Karnataka. Previously, this region was a constituent of Rayalaseema, which was under the governance of the Vijayanagara Empire. Following Independence, the Indian States underwent reorganization based on linguistic lines. As a result, Ballari became a constituent of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region within the state of Karnataka. The Veerasaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha (V.V.Sangha), a century-old organization, is honored by the wisdom and prestige of its founding fathers. In 1916, the initial action taken to stimulate intellectual growth and raise awareness among the general population was the establishment of V.V.Sangha. V.V.Sangha was officially registered under the Society's Registration Act XX1 of 1860, with registration number 1 of 1917-1918, on the 7th of March, 1918. In order to achieve its goals, the V.V.Sangha built a range of educational institutions, encompassing not just schools and colleges, but also technical, management, pharmacy, and teacher training institutes, as well as Kalyanamantapas in the Ballari and Vijayanagara Districts. The V.V. Sangha is committed to the principle of "Viddyege Gnanave Bhooshana". SMT. ALLUM SUMANGALAMMA MEMORIAL COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, BALLARI, was established in 1969 managed by the Veerashaiva Vidavardhaka Sangha, Bellary. It started with student's strength of 164 and today it can boast of 1000 students. This college has been established with an avowed goal of fostering women's education in this backward district of Karnataka State.
