Celebration of National Science Day–2020
at Seminar Hall on 28/02/2020
“National Science Day” was celebrated by the Science Association of Smt.ASM College for Women, Ballari, to commemorate the Honour of Doyen Scientist, Sir C.V. Raman on 28th February 2020 in the College Seminar Hall. Dr.C.Nagabhushana, Retired Professor of Physics, was the Chief Guest. Chairperson of the College Smt.Angadi Shashikala presided over the event.

The Chairperson Smt.Angadi Shashikala, Principal Dr.S.Y. Thimmareddy, Chief Guest Dr.C.Nagabhushana and Vice President of Science Association Sri.A.Mallikarjuna Gouda inaugurated the event by watering the plant. After inaugurating the programme the chief guest Dr.C.Nagabhushana spoke about the life and achievements of Sir. C.V.Raman. Referring to the achievements of Albert Einstein, he said that those Scientists had tasted the true essence of science and their efforts are the result of today’s Science for Education. The Chairperson of the College in her presidential remarks underlined that the Science students must put all their efforts in discovering something new and useful to the world. She said that to mark the National Science day students must involve in the innovative activities of Science. Principal Dr.S.Y.Thimmareddy in his key note address landed the efforts of the Science Association of the College in conducting such informative and co-curricular activities like Elocution Competition and other events. He advised the Students to take part in such activities in order to explore the hidden talents. As a part of "National Science Day-2020", Smt.Usha.M.Jali Memorial an Intercollegiate Science Lecture contest was held on the occasion. Total 16 participants from across the district actively presented their topics of Science. Dr.D.Nagesa Sastri, Ass. Professor of Chemistry, Veerashaiva College, Dr.Shashikanth H. Majagi, Associate Professor of Zoology, VSK University and Dr. Shilpa Kulkarni, Associate Professor of Physics, Govt. First Grade College, Ballari, were the judges for the Science Lecture Contest Dr.D.Satheesh, Ass. Professor of Zoology introduced the Judges. Mr. Vedanth Kulkarni from Veerashaiva College, Ballari, won the First Prize. Kum.Niharika from T.V.M. College of Pharmacy, Ballari, won the Second Prize. Kum. Swathi.A. from Smt.A.S.M.College for Women, Ballari, won the Third Prize in the contest. All the Participants were given participation certificates. Ms. Sahana from B.Sc-IV Semester carried out the event. Ms.Swathi of B.Sc.-VI Semester welcomed the guests, Ms.Pooja goud introduced the Chief Guest, Ms.Aishwarya invocated the event, Ms.Preethi read out the significance of National Science Day and Ms.Sai Sushma proposed the vote of thanks. The College Staff and hundreds of Students were present in the event.
