Awareness Programme on ”Road Safety Week”

 IQAC & NSS Units of the College in association with the Ballari District Police Department had organized a Road Safety Week in the open-air auditorium of the College on Tuesday 9th February 2021. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Smt.Lavanya, IPS, was the Chief Guest and Principal Dr.S.Y.Thimma Reddy, Presided over the event. Staff & Students participated on occasion. After inaugurating the event by putting helmets to the Students, Smt.Lavanya spoke that every year around 1.5 Million People are dying in road accidents, while around 10,000 people in Karnataka and around 350 in Ballari District.  She said that Government has taken various steps and policies like conducting Road Safety Week and other awareness events; it is the responsibility of every citizen should be aware of traffic rules and regulations and also should create awareness among others.  She advised the students to compulsorily wear helmets and to avoid triple riding. Dr. Govinda Raju, Principal, Smt. A.S.M.P.U. College spoke on the occasion that the fast drive would be the last drive, he urged the students to drive carefully and reach home safely.   Degree College Principal Dr.S.Y.Thimma Reddy spoke in his presidential remarks that nothing is more precious than life. Being aware of the traffic rules and strictly follow them in order to protect themselves from accidents. He appealed to the students to drive their vehicles cautiously for the reason that someone beloved will be waiting for them.  He also requests the students to help others during the time of accidents and emergencies. NSS Officer Sri. U.Somashekhar and Kum. Keerthana of B Com carried out the event. Kum. Rakshitha of B Com invocated and Kum. Nishida proposed the vote of thanks.  Traffic Inspector Sri Nagaraj Maddahalli, announced the oath on traffic rules and regulations was taken by the staff and students. A skit on traffic awareness was played by the students.
