Smt. A.S.M. College for Women, Ballari.

Aim: Spreading Awareness on National Academic Depository (NAD) and Computer Knowledge to the students in a digital format under the guidance of Prof. Harish.S.Gujjar.

       The department of BCA of prestigious Smt.A.S.M. College for Women had organized a special awareness programme on NAD in order to create the Computer Awareness among the learners.

     The programme was held on 18/02/2018 in the Seminar hall of the College. The Chairperson of College Smt. Angadi Shashikala & Sri P.Mohan Reddy, Chairman of G.B.R. College of Hadagali, presided over the event, Prof. Harish S. Gujjar, Assistant Professor of Computer Science in S.S.A. Government First Grade College, Ballari, was the Resource Person and Chief Guest, carried out the event.    

      National Academic Depository is a online storehouse for academic awards (degrees, diplomas, certificate, marks sheets etc.,)lodged by the boards/academic institutions/eligibility assessment bodies in a digital format. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has designated under the section 20(1) the University Grants Commission(UGC) act, 1956 as a authorized body for implementation of NAD.          

NAD aims at ensuring a credible and convenient mechanism for online lodging, verification and authentication of academic awards issued by various educational institutions, students and employers which will eliminate the need of persons and paper work and provide safe storage for the valuable Academic Awards. National Academic Depository comprises of two interoperable digital depository comprises of two interoperable digital depositories viz. CDSL ventures limited(CVL) and NSDL database management limited(NDML). These digital depositories have ensured hardware, network facility and software of prescribed quality for smooth and secured operationalisation of NAD.

 Features of NAD:

• Operate fully online mode.
• Allow lodging of Academic awards in a digital format, maintaining the database of each and every student’s educational details.
• Allow students to retrieve their lodged academic awards at any time.
• Maintain the authenticity, integrity and confidentiality of the database.

Benefits of NAD:

• Permanent and safe record of keeping all academic awards issued;
• No need for issuing duplicate academic awards, students can get it from NAD.
• Effective deterrence to fake and forged paper certificates.
• All academic awards verification needs can be addressed by NAD.

Roles and Responsibilities of Students:

• Register on either of depositories by providing Aadhar details.
• Avails Unique NAD ID in case of non availability of Aadhar.
• Submits Aadhar/Unique NAD- ID to AI for verification and seeding into award data.
• Views and accesses all awards online at any time in single account.

  Prof. Harish has given a very comprehensive introduction to all the students about the NAD, uses of NAD, how to create a profile in NAD for more secured awards in digital format. And even he has taken us to world of Artificial Intelligence by his interactive words, and the videos shown are more knowledgeable which made students to learn new thing. All the students felt more enthusiasm throughout event.

     Dr.Revana Siddappa, Principal, GBR College, Hadagali, Principal Dr.M.Pampapathi, Coordinator of BCA Ms.V.Sharvani, BCA Staff Members-Ms.Savitha, Smt.Poornima, Ms.Santhoshi, Ms.Lavanya and students witnessed and were also benefitted by this programme.

Ms.Lavanya has introduced the Guest, Kumari Nimitha welcomed the gathering and Ms.Santhoshi proposed Vote of Thanks. The event was remarkable success.
