The Department of English was started in the year 1969 with the inceptive strength of 64 students and today it records the total strength of 1249 students. It was headed by Ms.Rogasi Fernandes, Smt.Rajalakshmi, Smt.Asha Rani, Dr.Uma Maheshwar and Smt.Rafath Ahmed. Presently, the department is managed by Mr.K.Vijayendra Ranga Prasad with the support and assistance of two guest faculty - Mr.Kotresha N and Mr.SharmasVali P. 

The Department is comprised of Cultural Unit "Sarojini Literary Association" which aims at exploring the skills and talents of the students. The Sarojini Literary Association conducts Essay Writing, Elocution Competitions, Guest Lectures and other programmes. In addition to the above as a part of ISR activity the department conducts Spoken English Classes and Examination Stress Oriented Programmes, Special Talks, Basha Sangama (Translation Event) and other programmes as part of Extra-curricular activities. The Department also handles a part of Employability Skills for the Final Year Students. The faculty assists all the departments of the College in organizing the compering of the various cultural events.  The Department is guiding the learners at its best to make the learners to overcome from the conventional feeling that English is a foreign subject & enabling them to learn it as other common subjects.  The HoD Sri.K.Vijayendra Ranga Prasad has donated the Endowment Prize of Rs 10,000 for the highest score in English Subject.
